Floor Scales

 Bathroom Scale

There is a scale in my bathroom,
That lies to me.
That needle just zooms,
To where it shouldn't be.

It's there on the floor,
Just laughing at me,
Till I head for the door,
And disgusted I flee.

I know it is lying,
I can't weigh this much.
Maybe the scale was spying,
When I had my lunch.

In America, most homes have gas pipes, microwave ovens, electrical outlets, sharp knives, stove burners, bathtubs, steps or stairs, and other possible problematic or hazardous objects. Many of these household objects and places within the house can be dangerous and scary. But for many of us, the most scariest thing in the house, the thing that many people do not want to use, much less take from the deep, dark recesses of cabinets or closets, this horror, this destroyer of myths, this teller of truths, is the BATHROOM SCALE!

So remember what Franklin D. Roosevelt said, "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself".  With that in mind, it is time to face up to the challenge, to look in the bathroom mirror and say, "I'm smart enough, I'm good enough, and doggone it, people like me!" and take that step up onto that floor scale and seek the truth! Let this be the first step to a happier, healthier and enlightened future!
In the late 19th century, weight scales were coin operated. During the 1920's and 1930's, the Peerless Scale Company had coin operated scales on almost every corner. A person would put a penny in the scale and then would find out their weight.  In the 1940's, improvements in mechanical scale technology made small inexpensive personal bathroom scales readily available. Since than the scale has looked and performed in basically the same mechanical way. The average household bathroom scale appearance was usually a dull looking, square-shaped, metal object that a person would stand up on, squint down between their feet and try to comprehend the blur of numbers racing along the scale dial. Watching those numbers whirl by was like looking at a picket fence from a window of a passing car going 100 mph. The numbers would then come to a sudden halt, and with bated breath, the person would look down to see the result.
With these new types of floor scales, the result may be the same but the way to view it has gotten better!
In the 20th century, improvements in mechanical scale technology made small inexpensive personal bathroom scales readily available for the home, but now in the 21st century, believe it not, weighing yourself has become fun! Or at the least, interesting and stylish. Check out the Floor Scales page at Rehabmart to see the many different styles that we carry.

On those mornings when your eyes are tired and unfocused or at the times you just want some extra bathroom conversation, try a Talking Floor Scale!  When I first found out about talking scales, I wanted no part of them. I thought for sure that once I stepped on one it would scream and start cussing at me to get off.  But I then found out that they don't do that.  What they do have is a friendly female voice that announces "Hello, I'm Ready", no screaming or judgmental groans. The REIZEN Talking Weight Scale is a quality constructed bathroom scale, perfect for visually impaired or blind, health-conscious individuals. After the friendly female voice announces "Hello, I'm Ready", she will than tell you your weight in pounds or kilograms, either English or Spanish, while your weight is displayed on a big LCD screen. After ten seconds of non-use, the scale automatically shuts off and announces "Goodbye". If no voice is desired, the voice mode can be switched off by a button on the back of the scale.
