Next to a leisurely walk I enjoy a spin on my tandem bicycle. It is splendid to feel the wind blowing in my face and the springy motion of my iron steed. The rapid rush through the air gives me a delicious sense of strength and buoyancy, and the exercise makes my pulse dance and my heart sing.

Most children learn how to ride a bike.  Sure, it's scary at first for both the kid and his parents but learn he does because he wants to be with his friends, riding up and down the street, being independent from home and experiencing the joy and feeling of balance, grace, and speed.  Some kids catch on to bike riding quickly, some need a short time with training wheels, while others prefer to use tricycles for their mode of transportation.

Some children who would love to be outside riding around in the sun may think they are not able to get on a bike to ride...until now.  The Freedom Concepts Discovery Series DCP16 Pediatric Trike will make that dream come true for those with simple balance problems, or for kids with cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, spina bifida, muscular dystrophy, and head injuries.  Now these kids, as well as anybody else, can enjoy the freedom that will let them create their own sense of "coolness" while riding with others or around their home by themselves, all the while experiencing fun, exercise, and therapy.

This tricycle is not just bright colors and a cool-looking funky design, the Discovery DCP 16 comes with a quick release mechanism that is easily adaptable to the changes required from one rider to another making it great for schools, care facilities, therapists, and a large family.  Designed to provide excellent stability, the DCP 16 is also designed to fit through most standard door openings to allow easy transport without the physical lifting and moving hassles.

For children or clients just starting to learn how to ride, the DCP 16 comes with an optional rear steering system which allows the caregiver the opportunity to control and teach the rider by being able to steer or brake from the rear of the tricycle.  Once the rider becomes surer of himself and comfortable with reciprocal movement, adjustments can be made to allow the rider more control of his riding, creating levels of less assistance from the caregiver and more self-controlled navigation until the rider is ready to go solo.

The DCP 16 also comes with adjustable handlebars that can be moved completely out of the way for dismounting and an adjustable seat in low or high back styles along with a safety belt(s) for both comfort and safety.  As important is the unique crank and sprocket feature that can be adjusted in all direction to accommodate an individual's different hip to foot positions, and direct drive propulsion and low gear ratios that will provide average pedal power, making pedaling easy for beginners yet challenging for the more advanced or aggressive riders.

Velcro straps will help keep feet on the pedals or the optional supporting footplates, and a locking hand brake mechanism will allow safe and easy mounting or dismounting.  With its 16 inch steel wheels and smooth solid tires, quick release bolts on all of the adjustable components for quick adjustments, and the powder baked paint to ensure durability and years of looking good, the DCP 16 will be the ride-pride of any child

With the Freedom Concepts Discovery Series DCP 16 Pediatric Trike, most any child can now feel the leg-pumping, heart-racing, smile-generating action of a freedom ride out in the sun, wind and fresh air either with a caregiver's help or by themselves.  Riding a bike is a childhood tradition that will bring joy and memories to last a lifetime, so get outside and RIDE!

Nothing compares to the simple pleasure of a bike ride.
