In this April Newsletter we will be looking at several new vendors and products now being offered by Rehabmart. The three things we will be looking at will either vibrate, help move blood along the body, or increase range of motion.

One such product is the fun and innovative Vibrating Pillow by Senseez. Well, actually there are five vibrating pillows. These tactile, stimulating pillows offer a gentle vibrating sensation when they are sat upon, laid upon or squeezed, helping fidgety children sit still and remain seated by offering more sensory feedback, and in helping to train hypersensitive children to tolerate more physical sensations. These battery-operated vibrating pillows can help children in different ways for different behaviors. For those children who get distracted easily, these pillows can help them focus better, or help calm down the more hyper child, and may even help kids fall asleep more quickly. Tactile vibrational therapy has been in use for a number of years and these sensory cushions are ideal for special needs children with ADHD, autism, or a sensory processing disorder. These pillows can also be used for any child that may have trouble just sitting still for such things as car rides, sitting for meals, story time, movies, school work, etc. The Senseez Vibrating Pillows weigh in at about three pounds and are recommended for ages 4 years and up.

Another great new vendor and product is GO2’s new CV2 Circulation Maximizer which is a device to increase blood circulation in the lower extremities for the elderly and people who have to sit much of the time due to an injury or post-surgical recovery. This uniquely designed device is a simple, low tech and non-invasive product that uses minimal human power but offers a 300% increase in venous blood flow velocity and a 900% increase in arterial blood flow velocity during diastole throughout the lower extremities. The CV2 depends on ‘treadle’ power to create inertia, similar to the 19th/early 20th century sewing machines which used a foot pedal to run the sewing machine, called treadling. As with an old sewing machine, when using the CV2 a person simply places their foot on the CV2 and pushes gently down a few times. The CV2 will collect inertia and thus provide an assisted return to the user. The CV2 will continue the up/down movement started by the user, allowing the user to sit back and enjoy the pumping action of their feet, thereby also enjoying the resulting increased velocity in arterial and venal circulation in the lower extremities.

The CV2 is not an exercise device in the sense that is will burn calories or cause any significant changes in a user's vital signs, but it will provide some excellent lower extremity circulation relief. Using the CV2 and the increased arterial and venal circulation it provides without fatigue or discomfort will help users reduce edema and assist in wound healing of those with limited mobility. Even for people who are very active with vigorous activities such as running or biking, the CV2 can help provide muscle relief by increasing oxygen output to the muscles. This simple and easily transportable device is non-fatiguing, drug free and has no side effects, and requires no special clothing or shoes or electricity. The quiet and environmentally neutral CV2 can work in the home, at a nursing facility or hospital, and can be taken and utilized on long car trips too.

Another new vendor and their products that Rehabmart is proud to introduce and offer is Kinetec USA, the maker of Continuous Passive Motion (CPM) devices for rehabilitation. CPM devices are used in rehabilitation for soft tissue surgical procedures such as knee replacements, torn tendons or other reconstructive joint surgeries. A CPM device provides passive motion within a specific plane of movement which will protect the healing surgical repair or damaged tissue. CPM devices constantly move the repaired joint through a predetermined controlled range of motion, allowing synovial fluid movement to increase the diffusion of nutrients into the damaged cartilage and the diffusion of other materials, such as ‘old’ blood and metabolic waste products, to move out of the damaged area. Another positive aspect of the CPM is to help prevent fibrous scar tissue to form in the repaired joint which tends to decrease the range of motion.

Kinetec USA offers a number of CPM devices for various parts of the body in need of post-surgical rehabilitation, such as a hip CPM machine, a shoulder CPM machine, a hand and wrist CPM machine, an elbow CPM machine, a bed and wheelchair shoulder CPM machine, a portable hand CPM machine, an ankle CPM machine and several knee CPM machines.

From vibrating pillows to a lower extremity circulation maximizer device to continuous passive motion devices, Rehabmart is proud to offer a diversity of medical devices to help the young, the elderly, surgical-rehabbing individuals and anybody else in need of some type of medical device or product to help for a specific need. While many companies are downsizing the number of products they carry, Rehabmart is always looking for the newest, most innovative and highest quality medical equipment, medical furniture, medical institutional equipment, low vision products, rehabilitation devices, products for special needs children and adults, bariatric products, products for the hearing impaired, occupational therapy products and surgical supplies.

April is supposed to bring May flowers, but it also brings more medical products from Rehabmart to be offered to the public, professionals and medical institutions at great prices.
