When a child makes the transition to a big kid bed from a crib, it can be a scary thing for parents. It can be extra scary if the child runs on the active side in his or her sleep or has special needs like a neurological or neuromuscular challenge such as cerebral palsy where the condition may make picking themselves up off the floor difficult or impossible. Bed rails may not be enough to make the bed into a safe haven, and hospital beds look like, well, hospital beds.

Providing safety and comfort for the child and peace of mind for the parents is the SleepSafe High Bed thats been designed with safety and attractiveness in mind. The wood parts come in a choice of oak, maple, or cherry to enhance the coziness of a childs room. Each bed is made to order and in some cases, insurance may cover part of the costs.

The SleepSafes independently operating double tier safety rails can be swung out of the way to facilitate transfers into and out of the bed and provide up to 36 inches of protective height.  They can be installed on both sides or just one side of the bed, depending on the rooms configuration. The rails are available with or without the dual view option, clear panels that allow the parents or other caregivers to peek in on the child from the side while preventing feelings of claustrophobia for the child.

A rigidly constructed frame crafted from tubular steel provides a stable, secure surface for the child no matter how the bed is positioned.  It can support up to 350 pounds. The foundation comes in a choice of fixed, articulated at the head and feet, or articulated and hi-lo, which can be adjusted for height as well as positioning for the head and feet. Both the headboard and the footboard extend below the mattress to close the gaps and prevent getting a foot or arm caught. The SleepSafe comes standard with casters, and an articulated pressure prevention mattress thats covered in an antimicrobial fabric just like the ones found in hospitals and nursing homes.

Accessories to further customize the Sleep Safe include an IV pole, padding for the rails to provide a layer of protection for active sleepers,  an optional second window for the side of the bed without the rails, and an aftermarket conversion kit to make a single view bed into a dual view model.

The SleepSafe High Bed is suitable for children living with challenges such as cerebral palsy, some forms of developmental disability, neurological and neuromuscular issues such as Betts syndrome, and some types of chronic illnesses. It is also well suited for any child who might require some extra protection in the sleeping hours. It could also be utilized by an adult living with Alzheimers or another form of dementia. These beds are perfect for use in-home, or can be employed in a residential facility as a way to create a more homelike and comfortable atmosphere.
