According to the National Association for Continence, over 25 million Americans suffer from incontinence or the lack of ability to control bladder function or bowel movements. Although incontinence is often thought to be a symptom of aging, it is a condition that can be caused by a variety of factors, including diabetes, obesity, medication side effects and weak pelvic muscles, among others. One thing many sufferers of incontinence have in common, however, may be embarrassment about their condition. Thanks to advances in incontinence products in recent years, people suffering from incontinence can lead active lives without worrying about potentially embarrassing accidents or leakage. While there have been advances in products such as adult diapers and panty liners, home disposal of these products was commonly handled by a diaper pail which was cumbersome and unpleasant. Now, Rehabmart is pleased to offer a breakthrough product called the Akord? Diaper Disposal system, which has revolutionized the disposal of adult incontinence products.

Inspired by the success of their juvenile diaper disposal system, the Regal Lager Company developed the hygienic, convenient, odor-free Akord Diaper Disposal System that discreetly blends with any room's d?cor. The Akord? Diaper Disposal system features an ergonomically designed foot pedal which opens a double sealed lid to reveal a spring-loaded trap door. In one simple step, the diaper, bed pad or brief is placed in the large capacity bin which is constructed of ABS plastic, a material known for its durability, glossy stain resistant surface and insulating properties. After the bin is full, the front door of the unit is opened, the continuous refill liner bag is cut with the door mounted cutter, the top is tied and the new liner is pulled down, tied and ready for the next load. The continuous refill liner bag is constructed of a strong, stretch resistant film made of 20% recycled materials. The film is treated with a lightly scented powder to further enhance the odor-free properties of the disposal system.

The Akord Diaper Disposal system comes in two sizes (large or extra large) and can hold up to 12 extra large adult diapers. The starter kit includes a disposal unit with a pre-filled continuous liner insert and two cases of replacement liner inserts. When the unit is no longer needed for diaper disposal, it can easily be converted into an attractive trash can by removing the trap door insert.

Thanks to the Akord? Diaper Disposal system, incontinence sufferers will discover what grateful parental owners of baby diaper disposal systems have known for years. Odor-free, discreet and hygienic disposal of diapers and other incontinence products is not only possible, it can be convenient and easy. Best of all, the system is a truly hands-free operation that is as simple as 1-2-3: step, drop and carry on with your everyday, active life!
