In 2010, the sections of the Americans with Disabilities Act addressing access to pools for the differently abled were revised. The updates went into effect in 2012, but some extensions allowed pools under Title II (public industry which includes municipal, school, and government facilities) and Title III (private industry which includes privately owned health clubs, recreational facilities, hotels and motels) a reprieve until January 31, 2013. The revisions require that the pool have at least two means of entry and exit for differently abled people including sloped entries, transfer walls, and pool lifts.

In its most basic form, a pool lift is a chair or a sling attached to a motor used to raise and lower a differently-abled person in and out of a pool. Rehabmart is pleased to offer ADA-compliant pool and spa lifts to ensure compliance with these new regulations.

The Global Superior Series Pool Lift may be used in almost any spa or pool. It has a rust-resistant powder coated frame and its anti-pinch linkage system helps ensure a smooth level ride both in and out of the pool.  A rechargeable 24-volt battery provides power. It has a capacity of 375 pounds and an optional concrete anchor. The upholstery is UV resistant, and foot and arm rests provide support while going into or coming out of the pool.

A hard seat with extra lumbar support, a watertight remote that can be used while in the pool, and a battery that's good for up to ninety lifts between recharging help the Freedom Pool Lift provide a smooth quiet ride in and out of the water. It also has 360-degree rotation for ease of transfer from wheelchair to pool.

Compliant with both ADA standards and Title 24 of the California Code, the Lolo Water-Powered Pool Lift helps users up to 400 pounds enter and exit the pool at a fixed point. Its large hydraulic cylinder and piston raise and lower the individual with water power alone. A pressure booster system with a .5 horsepower system is available as an option.

Another portable option is the Portable Freedom Pool Lift. It has two sets of castors, one locking and one stationary. Its six contact points provide stability and are padded to prevent damage to tile or concrete. The lifting arm may be folded down for storage.

The Global Rotational Series 450A Pool Lift can be rotated 90 degrees to the left or right, and a lockout system prevents unauthorized use. It's designed especially for use with above ground pools and spas, as it can be easily maneuvered to provide transfer from pool to hot tub. Each lift is made of UV-resistant material and has a rechargeable 24-volt battery. Features include arm and footrests, a safety belt, and it can lift up to 450 pounds.

With all these options available, Rehabmart customers are just a phone call or mouse click away from compliance with ADA updates. Improve your ADA rating and attract more clients by providing unlimited pool and spa access at your facility.
