Why you may need Several Bath Benches

If your mobility is being challenged, and your balance is not what it used to be, taking a bath can be one of the most nerve racking chores you do all day. Falling is a constant worry. Even people in the best of health have fallen in the tub and suffered major injuries. So, if you have a disability or are simply getting older, it is downright scary! When soapy and slick, it is simply difficult to keep from slipping, which is why you may need several bath benches.

At Home

If you are elderly and have simply slowed down because of the years, or you have physical challenges that make standing for a shower difficult or impossible, you might want to consider bath benches for every room with a shower or bath. Sure, you can only use one bench at a time, but what if another family member is occupying one restroom and you need to quickly take a shower to avoid being late to a function?

Especially if you are in a rush, you do not want to be left wanting a bath bench. You also do not want to have to move a bath bench from one end of the house to the other. So, it is simply common sense to have more than one bath bench, if you have multiple bathrooms. Besides, even if you never use the second shower, you might have guests that will appreciate the safety factor when they come to visit.

Away

Of course, you will not always be close to home every time you need a shower. If you are on vacation, and get stuck in a motel room without handicapped facilities, it might be nice to have a portable bath bench stowed away in the trunk. It also makes it easier to visit friends and family. Then, you do not have to leave early because you did not pack massive amounts of deodorant or perfume.

Speaking from personal experience, it is no fun trying to get clean without a bath bench. While a wash cloth and sink full of warm water will do in a pinch, you never feel truly clean. By the time you have been away from home for a few days, it becomes impossible to enjoy the trip, because you need to get back home to the safety of your bath bench and take a shower until all of the hot water runs out.

In short, I remember the days of bathing before having a bath bench. Every bath or shower is a stressful event of necessity. Forget trying to relax and enjoy the experience. Hearing people talking about how great warm shower would feel right now, is almost impossible to understand. Why can family members stay in there long enough to use all of the hot water, when you are constantly worried about falling? Well, now you can wash away your fears while sitting on your bath bench. Then, you can use up all the hot water for once.
