The Doctor's Office Series, Part 5:  Medical Instruments and Medical Cabinets

This is the fifth article in the 'Doctor's Office' series where, as a patient, we walk through the doctor's office.  First we waited in the waiting room chairs, then we were called back to the interior office and got our blood test taken in the blood drawing chairs and then we had our temperature taken and stepped onto the scale to see how much we weigh.  Now we have been admitted into the exam room where it is clean and bright because of good lighting and heavy-duty medical waste receptacles.  Scattered about the room are medical cabinets and medical supplies.

Like any other working office, the tools of the trade must be within easy reach...yet due to the peculiar or dangerous tools of the trade within a doctor's exam room, many of the medical supplies will be stored in a medical cabinet.  Whether it's for storing easy-to-reach medical supplies or for keeping medical instruments and other dangerous materials out of reach, a professional medical cabinet and the correct medical supplies are important for a complete and thorough exam.

can offer the medical professional a number of medical supplies and medical cabinets to hold the medical instruments.  One example of the many different types of medical supplies carried by Rehabmart is the Crile Hemostatic Forceps.  These 5 ½ inch straight forceps are forged from corrosion-resistant surgical stainless steel.

From library.rehabmart.com    A good way to impress a patient while at the same time checking their myotatic and plantar response is with this 22K Gold-Plated Taylor Percussion Hammer.  While still utilizing the original design and artisan craftsmanship of Dr. John Madison Taylor, MDF Instruments has modified the Taylor reflex hammer to incorporate a modern design and functionality.

From library.rehabmart.com    Sometimes the doctor must see parts of the patient's body where the sun doesn't shine too often and this Lighted Forceps Kit for Foreign Body Removal is a great way to remove foreign particles from dark places.  This innovative tool provides the physician with light and magnification in a small, single-use forceps for the ear and nose.

From library.rehabmart.com    Where there are doctor's offices there are bandages, and a good way to take off a soiled bandage is with some Lister Bandage Scissors.  These 5 ½ inch bandage scissors are forged from corrosion-resistant surgical stainless steel and are the popular 'workhorse' grade instruments that are built to last.

From library.rehabmart.com    As with bandage removal, removing stitches is a constant job within an exam room and a good tool for that would be the Spencer Stitch Scissors.  This operating room-quality stainless steel German instrument is ideal for suture removal, has a delicate pattern and is latex free.

From library.rehabmart.com    Having these and other medical instruments and supplies are important for the exam room, but they need to be placed somewhere and the Proline Medical Cabinets by Hausmann is a professional economy line of modular all-laminate, dowel and glue cabinetry.  The many choices available all have adjustable laminate shelves and self-closing laminate drawer slides with nylon rollers and positive stops.

From library.rehabmart.com    One of the quickest ways to place quality cabinets in the exam room or clinic is with the Managed Care Quick Base Cabinet by Clinton.  These pre-assembled units save time, are made with easy-to-clean all laminate construction with tough, chip resistant PVC edges and have a recessed toe kick.  The Euro-style drawer fronts come with metal sides and have a 75 pound capacity.

From library.rehabmart.com    Many times exam rooms are purely functional in design and boring in their look but it doesn't have to be that way with these Theme Series Quick Cabinets from Clinton.  These pre-assembled cabinets come with choices of fun and cool graphics that are permanently embedded in high pressure laminate and will never peel off.  This easy-to-clean all laminate construction has tough, chip resistant PVC edges, a recessed toe kick, and Euro-style drawer fronts with meal sides that can hold up to 75 pounds.

From library.rehabmart.com   If the doctor's office is in need of a professional free-standing unit, the Free-Standing Cabinet Unit with Sink by Hausmann would be a perfect choice.  This unit comes with two 24 inch drawers, a section with two doors, and one 24 inch door section on the lower part of the unit.  The upper part of the unit comes with a 10 inch deep cupboard framed with acrylic doors.  Also included is a 36 inch high countertop surface with a stainless steel sink and single lever faucet.

It can be embarrassing and a bother if a doctor has to look for a needed medical supply or has them laying around on open surfaces. Having professional medical supplies and cabinets are functional, professional, and can make the exam go quicker and easier for both the medical professional and the patient.
