July is UV Safety Month and Rehabmart can offer you some innovative safety measures for your children from the sun’s ultraviolet radiation.

Summer is the time when the children are out of school and parents are trying to get their kids to go play outside more often.  One way to enjoy the great outdoors is to go swimming in a pool or better yet, on vacation to a sandy beach.  Getting outside in the fresh air and sun is a wonderful and healthy way to spend a day making sand castles, swimming, or just sitting around and relaxing.  Although this is a fine way to spend a day, as usual, too much of a good thing could become a not so good thing, for example, too much sun.

While growing up just about every child will get sunburned at least once in their life and even though it might be a rite of passage for the outdoors tomboy and run-about child, it would be better to not try to achieve this badge of summer.  With all the talk about the ultraviolet radiation from the sun becoming more intense over the past few decades, it is wise to protect oneself as much as possible, especially for children who more often than not will lose track of time when playing outside.

Of course sunscreen lotion is one defense against the UV rays but trying to catch a running child and settle him down enough to smear lotion on him can become a quite a drama and the same procedure will have to be redone every few hours or so.  Having the kids wear long-sleeved shirts and pants can work for a little while, but the UV rays can penetrate many types of clothing. And binding kids up in thick clothes while on the beach is somewhat counter-productive.  Another option is to limit the time allowed for playing outside in the sun but this is no fun for child and adult alike.

The best way to beat the sun is with confidence, or should I say, Konfidence UV Swimwear.  Konfidence UV Swimwear can protect your child against 98% of the sun’s harmful UVA and UVB rays which is equal to a UV Protection Factor of 50+.  The fabrics used in the Konfidence UV Swimwear have been specially treated with chemical UV absorbers and are specifically constructed with a certain weave and colors that will provide the best protection against the sun.  Using the Konfidence swimwear will allow only about 1/50th of the sun’s UV rays to pass, allowing both the parents and children to feel relaxed and secure while frolicking on the beach and in the waves.

Rehabmart offers a wide variety of Konfidence UV protective clothing and the easiest article of clothing for a kid to wear on the beach for protection is the Konfidence UV Protective Hat.  These hats are important in protecting the face, ears and neck of children from the harmful UV rays while they are either in or out of the water because the material will dry off quickly so getting them wet is no problem.  They also meet the AS/NZS standard, have a 50+ UVPF rating and come in either a blue or pink sun deflecting color.

Wearing more than a hat is probably a good idea at the beach so wearing theKonfidence UV Protective Shorts and UV Protective T-Shirts will fit the bill quite well.  Made with soft, close-knit material, both the shorts and shirts are designed to protect children from the dangerous UV rays while also giving them freedom and comfort to run around the beach or to dive and swim in the ocean or pool.  Both the shorts and shirt can be worn in or out of water and will not lose any of the UV protection.

And talking about the ocean, lake or pool, the Konfidence Company also has items to help or
assist the swimmer, both young and old.

The Konfidence Babywarma will provide 100% UV protection on the covered areas of the infant’s body while also keeping him or her warm in the water.  The Babywarma is designed for a newborn to a six month old baby.  It opens flat which makes it easier to get on and off the baby, and it will provide a better way to secure the baby during a swimming lesson.

For the slightly older child we can offer the Konfidence Floatsuit.  This is designed for children who prefer a more traditional swim suit but it features an added benefit. It comes with floats that can be removed as the child gains confidence with swimming until finally all the floats can be removed to allow the child to swim unaided.  The floatsuit can be worn from the age of approximately one year old.

For the water lover between the ages of two and six years old, the Konfidence Child Wetsuit will look stylish while providing 100% UV protection of the covered body areas, also offering warmth and comfort while swimming.  Made from 2.5mm soft neoprene, this highly durable wetsuit is great for swimming lessons and keeping the child warm in colder water.  It comes in bright colors for hi-visibility, adjustable shoulder straps, and a flat lock stitching and soft Lycra edging to prevent chafing.

And kids aren’t the only ones who need UV protection. The Adult Konfidence Jacket is designed as a flexible swimming aid for adults, coming with eight buoyant floats that can be removed and/or adjusted as needed to change with body position and buoyancy.  This jacket is well suited for use in lakes, oceans or for aquatic therapy in a pool.  The jacket has a wetsuit-grade durable neoprene shell and a chlorine-resistant poly interior that will provide years of use.  It also has a torso strap which will prevent the jacket from riding up during swimming or therapy.

The summer is here so go have fun outside in the sun and on the water with these UV Protective Swimwear items for infants, children and adults.  You can now stay outside in the sun that extra hour or two and swim in the water, all the time having fun in the sun with a little more Konfidence.
