Since the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was passed by the United States Congress in 1991, disabled Americans have had an easier time gaining access to public buildings such as grocery stores, malls, entertainment venues and office complexes. We are now all used to seeing curb cuts, handicapped parking spaces and automatic doors to provide easier access to public places. But what happens when a disabled or wheelchair bound person gets inside a building or medical facility that is not ADA compliant? Often a simple act of opening a door becomes a hardship for those with limited mobility. Thanks to a revolutionary new product offered by Rehabmart called the Doormatic Auto Door Opener, doors located inside a building need no longer be an obstacle to the disabled.
A slight push or pull on the door is enough to trigger the opening and closing door mechanism. For those who are not able to touch the door, an optional remote control is available that will trigger the door to open or close. A motion sensor can also be installed on the door which is activated by an infrared beam and will activate the door as needed. For added safety, an obstacle detection sensor is included that will prevent injuries and stop the door from closing when someone or something is near the door. Easy to follow instructions will allow simple adjustments to customize waiting time and speed settings to the door.
