Most of us will experience back pain at some point during our lives. In fact, it is estimated that over 80% of Americans will be affected by back pain, whether it is self-inflicted through overexertion, injury or poor posture or whether it is a medical issue, such as nerve or muscular damage or conditions such as arthritis or degenerative disc disease. Whatever the cause, back pain can seriously affect the quality of the patient’s life and it is important to find and treat the source of the pain. One method of treatment recommended by doctors and therapists is to wear a back brace to help immobilize the spine and relieve pressure. The Stealth Air™ X LSO brace is constructed of semi-rigid fabric that provides support and immobilization to the lumbar-sacral spine. A special tear-resistant strapping system surrounds four self-molding, flexible plastic stays and built-in anterior panels which help support the abdomen. The intra-abdominal pressure produced by the panels helps reduce pressure on discs which results in pain reduction. When the locking system is engaged in front, the interior straps act to stiffen the structure of the brace and immobilize the lower back from the sacrococcygeal joint to the T-9 vertebrae. The user-friendly, customizable closure system is fully adjustable with a number of different tension settings to fit a number of different body types. The Stealth Air™ X LSO brace can provide relief and spinal stabilization for post-operative disc surgery, herniated or bulging discs, chronic back pain and a number of other degenerative spinal conditions. The Stealth Air™ X LSO brace is washable and comes in standard or low profile heights.

Instead of relying on a strapping system to adjust support levels, the lightweight Expander LSO brace uses a patented air pocket system to reduce vertebrae pressure. When the air pockets are inflated, the Expander provides traction which carries weight-bearing forces away from the lower back and reduces lumbar spine pressure. Removable plastic panels act to restrict and control unwanted motion in the spine and can provide relief for such conditions as spinal stenosis, degenerative disc disease and sciatica. The Expander LSO is easily worn under clothing and comes with its own hand air pump.

When it comes to back pain, the most important thing to do is to consult a medical professional who will often recommend spinal stabilization and pressure relief, which can be effectively and discretely provided by the Optec back braces described above.
