Rehabmart.com, an online e-commerce company that sells rehabilitation and medical supplies, has joined into a distribution agreement with PageFlip to offer their PageFlip Lite Automatic Page Turner to a wider consumer audience. Headquartered in New York, PageFlip was founded specifically to benefit people with disabilities, musicians and avid readers with the development and manufacture of superior automatic page turning technology. Coming from disparate backgrounds in occupational therapy, mechanical engineering and electrical engineering, the company's founders were brought together by their shared frustration with existing page turning devices at the time. These previous devices performed poorly and/or were extremely expensive, and the founders of PageFlip knew they could invent a better, more affordable product.
After much careful design and testing, they developed several prototypes to further refine their patented technology, and their first product prototype was introduced at the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Trade Show in Anaheim, California, in January of 2008. This show provided a great source of positive comments and valuable feedback, with most of the remarks being concerned with size, reliability, noise and cost. The PageFlip team continued their research to reduce both size and noise, while improving the reliability and affordability. Their result was demonstrated at the NAMM in January of 2010, and was an instant success, amazing the trade show participants with its simplicity and superior functionality.
The PageFlip Lite page turner is specifically designed to offer a bidirectional hands-free solution to page turning that is affordable, portable, silent and completely reliable to help musicians, avid readers and people with disabilities. A 'musician' version and a 'disability' version are available, with both versions offering a wireless foot pedal for operation. The disability version also features alternate modes of operation that can be used with external eye switches, Jellybean push-buttons and sip-n-puff switches. "We are thrilled to introduce more consumers to the incredibly helpful PageFlip Lite page turner from PageFlip," said Hulet Smith, Founder and CEO of Rehabmart. "Besides helping musicians to keep their hands on their instruments, this wonderful invention also works with conventional books and can help the disabled or anyone who has trouble with turning pages. As this device is completely portable, it can be placed on a piano or music stand for the musician, and on the kitchen counter, desk, exercise equipment or bed for convenient hands-free reading wherever and whenever you need it."
