The Doctor's Office Series, Part 6:  The Saga Ends at The Exam Table

This is the sixth and last article in the 'Doctor's Office' series where, as a patient, we walk through the doctor's office. First we waited in the waiting room chairs, then we were called back to the interior office and got our blood test taken in the blood drawing chairs and then we had our temperature taken and stepped onto the scale to see how much we weigh. We have been admitted into the exam room where it is clean and bright because of good lighting and heavy-duty medical waste receptacles. Scattered about the room are medical cabinets and medical supplies, and now we end up sitting on the exam table while the doctor reads our chart.

Exam tables are multi-faceted medical tables where the healthcare professional can safely and comfortably examine a patient, all the time having his tools of the trade close by in the drawers and cabinets within the exam table. The exam table is the center of the exam room, the place where everything begins and ends with patient-doctor interaction. The exam table is the place where the ills and pains of patients are noticed, discussed, and examined. The place where boils are lanced, body parts are probed, cuts are sutured, and where people stick out their tongue to say "Ahhh".  Afterward, if there is no crying, a person sitting on the exam table may even get a lollipop.

Rehabmart has a wide selection of exam tables (but sorry, no lollipops) and the following are just a few fine examples.

From library.rehabmart.com    The Two-In-One Examination/Treatment Table by Hausmann can save both space and costs by providing an easily adjustable examination and treatment table in a single attractive and functional unit. This sturdy H-brace table comes with or without a full width laminate shelf or a choice of a fully enclosed all-laminate cabinet with two hinged doors. It is 72 inches long with an adjustable headrest and footrest. The 2 inch thick high-density urethane foam top has a resist-all vinyl upholstery finish.

From library.rehabmart.com    Another choice for an exam table is the Examination Table by Hausmann which has a pneumatic air-spring backrest with dual adjustment controls from 0 to 75 degrees. Comfort is important with the built-in front safety tread footstep, contoured padded head section, and a sliding leg rest extension and heavy duty concealed stirrups that adjust in length which are also laterally adjustable in four positions. The vinyl top pad and the leg rest extension pad are both attached with Velcro-brand fasteners and are removable.

From library.rehabmart.com    Not every patient is the same size and for the larger among us, Rehabmart offers the X-L Power-Back Exam Table by Hausmann. This table comes with the strongest slide-out footstep on the market which can accommodate patients up to 600 pounds. The backrest is motorized and can be adjusted between 0 and 75 degrees to facilitate either bariatric or elderly patient positioning. The extra wide 30 top accommodates the larger patient and the table height is a comfortable 33 inches with a toe recess on both sides of the table. The table is equipped with two front end drawers and three right side drawers. This welded heavy duty steel chassis table has a one piece vinyl upholstered top with high density urethane foam and a contoured padded head section for patient comfort. Another feature is the pelvic tilt with dual side controls, along with a paper dispenser and cutter.

From library.rehabmart.com    The Power Econo-Line Treatment Table has dual direct drive electrical lift actuators that can adjust the table's height from 24 inches to 35 inches simply by using the convenient hand control. This table also has a 36 inch long ten position adjustable backrest and a 4 position adjustable 18 inch long leg rest. The 350 pound capacity table includes a storage area enclosed with two doors and a 2 drawer storage cabinet.

From library.rehabmart.com    One more exam table example is the Powermatic Wheelchair Accessible ADA Exam Table. This custom designed exam table is for patients with special needs, including bariatric, geriatric and ambulatory patients. The Hi-Lo motorized lift can adjust the table height from 20 inches to 32 inches with a hands-free foot control. The air-spring pneumatic backrest comes with dual controls which adjusts from 0 to 75 degrees so the patient can comfortably sit or lay on the vinyl upholstered removable pad with a contoured padded head section, both are attached with Velcro brand fasteners. The vinyl coated heel rest for the patient's comfort are included in the slide out leg rest with pad.

Thus ends the Doctor's Office series, from the waiting room to the exam room, Rehabmart has plenty to offer any doctor or healthcare professional who is looking for medical supplies and furniture. For many people, the first impression is important and having a clean, new, sturdy, professional looking clinic and office can have a positive effect on the patients and medical staff. There is an old saying that the clothes make the man but for a medical professional, the look of the office helps make the doctor.
