In long-term health facilities where health professionals have a lot of physical patient interaction, both patient safety and the physical health of the caregivers is paramount in the thoughts and minds of the medical staff.  Many patients in nursing homes or adult-care facilities need assistance from standing up from a chair, sofa, or wheelchair, to be transferred to another setting. For a medical caregiver, lifting up a patient from a chair or side of a bed and 'walking' a patient around to sit into a wheelchair or another seat is much like a dance, except with the caregiver leading the dance while at the same time supporting the weight of the patient. 

This move is done many times by a medical caregiver during a daily work shift.  Even though some patients may have the use of, and some strength in their arms and legs to help the transfer process, the caregiver still takes on the task of making sure the patient is in a safe and secure grip while all the time pivoting their feet and lifting, twisting, and seating the patient.  Sometimes patients, especially older patients, may have skin or body ailments which limit the ability of the caretaker to safely grasp the patient, increasing the probability of a fall and injury. 

  
Rehabmart offers a safer way to allow an assisted transfer from one seated position to another with the HealthCraft Revo Patient Turner, an upright and portable patient transfer device.  This caregiver-assisted transfer device assists both the caregiver and the patient while they help each other in the transfer exchange.  The Revo™ Patient Turner is easily placed in front of the chair where the patient is sitting.  After the caregiver simply steps on the brake pedal to engage the locking mechanism which prevents the disc from rotating, the patient then places his or her feet on the disc, grabs the hand bars, and with the caregiver pulling up on the hand bars the patient can pull his- or herself into a standing position.  Once standing straight up, the caregiver will then disengage the brake, rotate the patient on the revolving disc to the front of the next sitting surface.  The caregiver will then reengage the locking mechanism and while holding onto the handrail, assist the patient in sitting down.
